Dreary Monday
Today was mostly an indoor day. It was chilly & misting all morning. Gabby spent the morning with her Nana while I went for a much needed massage. Nana took Gabby on a little fieldtrip to visit Oma at Pinehaven. Gabby likes to visit Oma as she always has treats to share and teddy bears to play with.
This afternoon the weather improved and we got out for a walk to the park. Gabby doesn't last long in the stroller these days. Instead she insists on walking alongside the stroller. Which means it takes FOREVER to walk to the park! Nana & Grandpa's house is across the street from the park, so we stopped by to say hello to Nana who was out in her garden. Grandpa was on his way to golf and got a quick hello and a smooch. After the park we returned home and sat on the front porch while sharing a banana. Then we were off for a walk (sans stroller) around the block to check on her favorite neighborhood dog. Max is a labradoodle puppy and Gabby likes to stop and bark at him!
Sorry, no pics today. We have 2 digital cameras, but Jason dropped/broke one on his bike trip and the other has a dead battery. Dead batteries and full memory cards are typical in our household.

River Ride 2007

Jeff getting ready to cross into WI.

Taking in the beauty of Lake Pepin

Mike's memorial along the 400 State Trail
Jason & his friend Jeff embarked on River Ride 2007 last week. Their plan was to ride along the Mississippi from Minneapolis to Prairie Du Chen, then east across the state to Sheboygan.
- Day One (Aug. 18) - 50-miles. Burnsville to Redwing, MN. Rainy, cold, windy and hilly.
- Day Two - 86-miles. Redwing to Galesville, WI.Cloudy, misty, hilly, rainy.
- Day Three - 27-miles. Galesville to LaCrosse. And again it was raining.
- Day Four - 89-miles. LaCrosse to Reedsburg. Pick an alternate route as the original was literally "washed out". But it turned out to be the best day - they rode the LaCrosse River Trail, Elroy/Sparta Trail and the 400 State Trail where Jason stopped at the Mike Beuthling memorial.
- Day Five - 87-miles. Reedsburg to Ripon and "frickin" hilly all day, but with a little tail wind for the first time.
- Day Six - 76-miles. Ripon to Home. It was "killer". More hills and lots of humidity.
