Christmas Tree Hunting

Today was the day to cut a tree. But first we had to be sure Gabby had all the cold weather gear to be out in the elements. Thankfully there were a few cold weather hand me downs packed away in the closet. I remember when we received them long ago I looked at them with dismay... would Gabby really be so big some day? She is. And the excitement on her face when I pulled the winter boots from her closet was priceless. She demanded I put them on her immediately - with her jammies. After convincing her she couldn't go out for breakfast in her jammies & boots, we finally got her fully dressed and strapped into the carseat. It took about 5 minutes for the marshmellow to start yelling & complaining from the backseat. She was not happy being so bundled up & restrained. After breakfast we headed for the tree farm with Nana & Grandpa to hunt for our trees. Gabby loved walking in the snow, but didn't like falling down into the snow. It was cold and we didn't waste too much before finding the perfect tree. The perfect tree is now outside, leaning against the front porch. We need to clear out the toys that have taken over our living room & dining room before the tree can come into the house. Hopefully it will be a productive afternoon... but we'll see. Gabby just went down for a nap, Jason just settled onto the couch with a snack, bicycling magazine and turned on the football game. And I'm itching to make a trip to Target and finish up the Christmas shopping.

Fun with a Box

Thursday afternoon the UPS man delivered us a featherbed in a large box. Jason & I were excited about the featherbed. Gabby was excited about the box. It's provided countless hours of fun Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. We color on the box, we color in the box, we draw on the box with a pen (very big deal!) We crawl into the box. We play peek-a-boo in the box. We throw balls into the box. We leave the house to run errands and Gabby asks "where's the box?" Who knew a box could be such entertainment?

Icecream!

It's been too long since I updated this blog. The days just seem to fly by. We've been taking lots of pictures, but haven't downloaded them to the computer. So I'm spending this cold, snowy afternoon updating and getting organized.

All is well here. Gabby's sitting next to me on the couch reading "Love You Forever" - one of her latest favorites. She's got a bit of a cold and every few minutes yells "nose!" Which is my cue to get a tissue and wipe.

Pics were all taken around Thanksgiving.

Florida Fun

Wouldn't it be nice to spend winters in Florida? The answer would only be yes if all our family came along with us. Of course it was a warm & sunny day here in Orlando. We shopped a little - Gabby found new kicks and a christmas dress. Daddy found a new pair of pants. Mama restrained herself (:D Then it was lunch and naptime, followed by swimming. After supper we headed to the indoor playground where Gabby had great fun (so did Mom). And what better way to end the day? Chocolate icecream of course!

Longest Day and Potty Time

Yesterday marked the day to turn back the clocks. It seemed like the longest day ever, which was great. Lots of playtime with Gabby. Yesterday also marked the day Gabby went pee pee on the potty for the first time! Very exciting!

Happy Halloween!

Gabby loved Halloween. She spent her afternoon at the Liestekow's house. We packed her costume and she helped the boys and Meg hand out candy. Then it was home for a quick pb&j sandwich and off to visit the grandparents. She loved helping hand out treats. Once it was dark we visited a few houses in Grandma & Grandpa Stauber's neighborhood. She had an absolute blast!

A Basket of Sweetness

It's the end of Gabby's long, fun-filled day. Of course we started the day with a bottle and Elmo. Mid morning we made the usual Wednesday morning trip to see Ms. Judy sing. Gabby was super attentive today - not much dancing, but lots of sitting & studying. She spent her afternoon with Meg, Ben & Gabe. It was a beautiful day here, so Meg took the kids to the park and Gabby & Ben had great fun playing together. Right nowGabby's enjoying a Graham Stick while sitting in the laundry basket with Pooh & her blankie. They're watching a bit of Elmo while I make dinner.

Morning with Elmo

Gabby's typical morning...in her PJs sitting on her go-go watching Elmo. If you look close enough you might be able to see her peanut butter mustache.

Monday, October 7th

Today Nana & Gabby went shopping at Evans and found Gabby a pumpkin for trick or treating. She's pretty excited about the pumpkin. When it was time for bed she collected her blanket, Pooh and of course her pumpkin! I snapped a picture of us just before heading up for bed. Take a close look at Gabs and you'll see she has a milk beard.

Saturday, October 6th

It was a hot & humid October Saturday. Gabby played, played and played some more. We tried going for a bike ride. It was Gabby's first time in a trailer behind Jason's bike. It didn't go so well - Gabby was not happy. We turned around after 5 blocks of crying. Gabby's having fun collecting acorns & chestnuts. She has her own little stash in the toy box.

A Fabulous Fall Morning

Sunday we went for a hearty farm breakfast at Whispering Orchards. Gabby loved petting all the farm animals and running amongst the pumpkins. It was a perfect Sunday morning.

We just returned from a week long vacation to Salt Lake. We visited our friends - Diana, Brad, Daniel & Bosco. We had a fantastic week hanging out with them - good food, good drinks, great conversation.

Gabby got to visit one of the best parks ever where we played for hours.

Jason biked lots with Brad.

We also visited Snowbird and took the tram to the top (thanks Daniel!) - the views were amazing!

Gabby made a new friend, his name is Bosco and he's the most mellow, gentle pooch I've ever met. She's always liked bow-wows - but from about 10-feet away. Not the case with "Bos". By the end of our stay she was petting Bos, feeding him treats, playing ball with him, and of course being the curious toddler she is... gave his tail a few tugs. I think Bosco was happy to see us leave (;D

I simply relaxed with Diana, read and made time to get a fabulous 90-minute massage.
