Christmas Tree Hunting

Today was the day to cut a tree. But first we had to be sure Gabby had all the cold weather gear to be out in the elements. Thankfully there were a few cold weather hand me downs packed away in the closet. I remember when we received them long ago I looked at them with dismay... would Gabby really be so big some day? She is. And the excitement on her face when I pulled the winter boots from her closet was priceless. She demanded I put them on her immediately - with her jammies. After convincing her she couldn't go out for breakfast in her jammies & boots, we finally got her fully dressed and strapped into the carseat. It took about 5 minutes for the marshmellow to start yelling & complaining from the backseat. She was not happy being so bundled up & restrained. After breakfast we headed for the tree farm with Nana & Grandpa to hunt for our trees. Gabby loved walking in the snow, but didn't like falling down into the snow. It was cold and we didn't waste too much before finding the perfect tree. The perfect tree is now outside, leaning against the front porch. We need to clear out the toys that have taken over our living room & dining room before the tree can come into the house. Hopefully it will be a productive afternoon... but we'll see. Gabby just went down for a nap, Jason just settled onto the couch with a snack, bicycling magazine and turned on the football game. And I'm itching to make a trip to Target and finish up the Christmas shopping.

Fun with a Box

Thursday afternoon the UPS man delivered us a featherbed in a large box. Jason & I were excited about the featherbed. Gabby was excited about the box. It's provided countless hours of fun Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. We color on the box, we color in the box, we draw on the box with a pen (very big deal!) We crawl into the box. We play peek-a-boo in the box. We throw balls into the box. We leave the house to run errands and Gabby asks "where's the box?" Who knew a box could be such entertainment?

Icecream!

It's been too long since I updated this blog. The days just seem to fly by. We've been taking lots of pictures, but haven't downloaded them to the computer. So I'm spending this cold, snowy afternoon updating and getting organized.

All is well here. Gabby's sitting next to me on the couch reading "Love You Forever" - one of her latest favorites. She's got a bit of a cold and every few minutes yells "nose!" Which is my cue to get a tissue and wipe.

Pics were all taken around Thanksgiving.
